Mr Seamus Morris, MB BCh BAO MMedSci MCh FSEM AFRCSI FRCS (Tr & Orth)

Mr Seamus Morris is a consultant fellowship trained spinal surgeon and was appointed as a consutant surgeon in 2007. In addition to working in the National Spine Institute his practice incorporates complex spinal surgeries at the National Spinal Injuries Unit, the National tertiary referral centre for spinal injuries and complex spinal tumours and spinal deformity. He has recently completed a 3 year term as Director of the National Spinal Injuries Unit and Chairman of the Orthopaedic Surgery in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

Mr Morris gives each patient his full attention and explains the options open to them in a clear and simple manner. He is passionate about his work and helping those who come to see him. The majority of patients can be simply treated without surgery.

Mr Morris graduated from University College Dublin in 1995 and completed higher surgical training in orthopaedic and trauma surgery on the National Higher Surgical Training program in Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery. He completed fellowship training in the Department of Spine and Scoliosis Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York (#1 Orthopaedic Hospital in the United States) and then completed further advanced training in complex trauma in St Georges Hospital, London, UK.

Since being appointed as a consultant surgeon he has specialised in all forms of spinal surgery including degenerative spinal conditions, spinal deformity correction, spinal trauma and tumours. Mr Morris is Assistant Clinical Professor in UCD School of Medicine and is Clinical Secretary of the Irish Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
